Laurence Alexander
My deepest thanks to Laurence Alexander, a visionary Chief and President with whom I had the privilege of serving across three organisations, both home and abroad. In addition to leading from the front, Laurence did not simply hire people — he elevated them.
He saw clarity in chaos, remained decisive under uncertainty and, while others were reactive, stayed measured — understanding that composure is integral to strategy execution.
Under his stewardship, I gained exposure to the technologies, disciplines, and behaviours that ultimately contributed to the creation of the Claymore platform.
Thank you, Laurence, for possessing the rare ability not just to listen, but to truly hear.
Norman G Levine
To the late Norman G Levine, with sincere thanks for the positivity, encouragement, and professional wisdom he shared through his writing, teaching, and public speaking.
As a leader, educator, and advocate for professional excellence, Norman influenced generations within the life insurance industry and beyond. His message was consistent: success is built upon service, integrity, and a genuine commitment to helping others.
I will always remember the infectious energy he brought as a guest speaker at the annual Million Dollar Round Table events.
“Selling is a process of helping, not persuading — trust before transaction”
Thank you, sir, for your inspiration and example.
Christopher Hitchens
To the late Christopher Hitchens, with gratitude for his literature, journalism, and commentary which challenged assumptions, encouraged independent thought, and demonstrated intellectual rigour over four decades.
For the countless debates in which he combined eloquence, wit, and an unwavering commitment to the strength of an argument rather than the popularity of an opinion.
And in recognition of the fortitude and candour with which he faced terminal illness, continuing to write and speak publicly with remarkable clarity and resolve.
“Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.”
Thank you, sir, for your example and insight, and for the wisdom and courage that defined a life lived without compromise, and for reminding us of this guiding principle:
“Take the risk of thinking for yourself. Much more happiness, truth, beauty, and wisdom will come to you that way.”
